Skin Routine all-natural and at-home.

I wanted to share one of my favorite at-home skin care routines.  I have a lot of skincare routines. Or I just have a lot of routines. In general.  I’m not feeling very clever today (the polar vortex has frozen my brain) so let’s just get to the steps:

  1. Exfoliate with used coffee grounds.  (Don’t you dare throw away your coffee grounds! They are an excellent exfoliation too and gently scrape away all the dead skin that refused to let your new skin breathe.)
  2. Put on a pro-collagen face mask.  (These things can feel kinda weird and can be tricky to keep in place, but I’m a fan.  I massage the mask into my face and let it sit there for 20 minutes.
  3. Now it’s time for the homemade face lotion!  I use many different ones but this one (Step 3) includes: 1/4 tbsp coconut oil, 4-5 drops of Helichrysum oil, and 1/5 tsp fresh, crushed turmeric root.  ( I live near Little India in NYC, so I always get the fresh turmeric root.  You can also order it online, because I’ve done that before too.)
  4. The last step is total ZEN. Research has shown that stress DIRECTLY inhibits collagen production. Collagen is one of the most important structural proteins in your skin, and its production and repair already slows down as we age. Stress accelerates that process.  Therefore, I always make sure all of my skincare routines involve a stress-reduction technique! In this case, I’m listening to my Stress-Relief ZENTones.  They work for me, and hopefully they work for you too.  🙂
