Have you heard of Younique before? I hadn’t until a few months ago. My friend sends me an invite on Facebook super excited about this new cosmetic and skincare line she has discovered. I’m pretty skeptical at this point but decide to humor her, as friends often do, and I buy a tube of mascara. I then forget about the whole thing. As fate would have it, the mascara turned out to be pretty amazing and now I was curious. What is Younique, where did it come from, and are the rest of their products as great as these 3D lashes?
Younique, based in Utah, is a natural based cosmetic and skincare line that is swiftly expanding. They just launched in the UK on Oct 1st and had 999 presenters join in the first 26 minutes! It is the first direct sales company to market and sell almost completely through the use of social media. The brother-and-sister team of Derek Maxfield and Melanie Huscroft founded Younique in September 2012. At that time they only had 1 product, the now best seller, Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes. It is the two year anniversary and they now have over 25 products that come in a vast variety of colors!
“Younique begins by looking to Mother Nature for the inspiration behind our cosmetics. Our in-house scientific team then formulates a product that honors that inspiration while delivering cutting-edge cosmetics. Our goal is to provide healthy, clean, and pure cosmetics..”
And now they have my attention. Products are natural based, non-toxic, no parabens, talc free, no synthetic fragrances or artificial colors. Most are gluten free, and some are even vegan! They list every ingredient for every product right on the site! Add in that none of the products are tested on animals and I’m sold. Let’s not forget about the “Love it” guarantee either. Within 14 days of delivery you can return anything if you don’t love it, but you will. Wait, it gets better? This fall they started transiting more of their products to be made in the USA!
What does your mascara do for you? Does it use harsh chemicals that dry out your lashes causing them to become brittle and break? Does it contain that wonderful preservative mercury that allows it to be kept in a warehouse and on a store shelf for YEARS? Does it contain so many ingredients that you can’t even begin to tell which one is irritating your eyes? Have you tried natural mascaras that just fall short?
That was my mascara and make-up dilemma for years. I’m so concerned about what I eat, what I use to clean my house, what I use in the yard, and what I expose my children to but never gave much thought to what was hiding in my bathroom cabinet. I have super sensitive skin and had almost given up on the whole concept of cosmetics. I am no longer lost or wanting. Younique has my skin covered and I have my tubes of 3D Fiber Lashes. Do you?
