Look at that! 100% for athletic and toned.

Wait. Only one vote at all. So far.

There's a variety not in the poll (actually two, now that I think of it): an older security guard at my work has a preference for amazon women: the kind with killer abs and huge muscled arms that could crush you to death.

And I've met a few guys who truly prefer women with a LOT of "junk in the trunk".

Athletic and toned works for me (character is *always* a consideration, but doesn't override basic visual attraction - I put them both on a par) but not with rippling muscles - like the body type my security friend prefers.

Is your security guard friend suicidal?? ;)

He might be. He's a bit of a weird wild-eyed duck too - he's married to a wonderful woman, yet engages in extra-marital stuff. He's in his 80's I think too. They might have an open marriage - I'm not sure. It got too uncomfortable to ask too many questions.

Technically, both of the types you mentioned could be included with what's up there. The big butt falls under voluptuity and the amazon falls under muscluar and fit.
That said, I can see why you might separate those.
Also, Eeks, why include the "personality" option? I distrust anyone that claims to believe that personality matters while looks don't. If that were true, I'd be getting laid every day.

I had a difficult time deciding between "Athletic and Toned" and "It's personality that makes a person attractive."
To me athletic and toned does not mean a muscle bound, gym junkie.

Right--- not like a Warrior Princess type. Though Zena( spelling??) was pretty hot for an Amazon

It was Xena. Not that I watched or anything...

Thin waist, boobs of any size, the thing that kills me is slender legs from the knees down and cone-shaped upper leg, starts out skinny at the knee and getting bigger as it goes up, to a big jiggle plump upper thigh and big butt. Athletic legs are a huge turn-off, if I want to see muscles I'd date a man. I also think women have gorgeous arms, it's amazing how they are formed. The shape is sexy as hell.

Pretty face has to match the body to avoid the butterface effect

Good point, Mon. How do men feel about the Butterface effect??? Men????

I believe it's "chemistry" that makes one most attractive. The more chemistry, the more light that shines upon our dark...for the greatest chance of healing, transformation and freedom! (Also, the greatest chance of "hell" if we're not aware of what's really going on here;-)

Let me guess: a girl wrote this, right?

That too is an interesting dichotomy: what (some) women think men *should* find attractive versus what they actually do. When I was a teenager, looks were it, period. After a divorce, and a few years of maturity, I got to the point where looks and personality both mattered equally. But one never trumps the other.

That's right. Remember in Liar, Liar when the kid says to Jim Carey "looks aren't everything" and Jim Carey snaps back, "oh that's just something ugly people say." Exactly. The bottom line is that we all like what we like. Why is there such a push in media and science to make men accept ehat they don't like, yet women constantly go for what they're attracted to and reject men for super-superficial reasons and are cheered for it. We call that "strong" and "independent". The minute i see a woman go for the average guy who will treat her right, as opposed to the hot douchebag-type who cheats on her and whatever else, is the minute i'll feel bad about not liking fat chicks.

The female body is so amazing that it's rare that I don't find something beautiful and attractive on almost every woman I meet. That being said, the pin-up, voluptous type probably is my fancy.

I asked my fiancee the question and he feels that pin up and voluptuous should be separate choices. He picked personality as #1 (but I'm cute so that was a bonus for him!) Not surprised to see how superficial people are based on results. You left out sense of humor; we all need a healthy one as we get old or we'll be bitter and miserable. Well that does explain much, doesn't it?

Sense of humor is HUGE!! I counted that under "personality" I :) Yes, we are a superficial bunch, but, I think , as long as we can keep our superficial tendencies in check, we can achieve happiness. I think everyone, if we're honest, is superficial to some extent. It's just when it "rules" us when I think it's a road to misery...
thanks for your comment :) E

I'm a sucker for a pretty face. A pretty girl gets me every time - regardless of body type. Conversely - a hot body with a not-so-attractive face is a no-go.

*applause* Yes! I've seen pretty women become drop-dead gorgeous when they smiled. And we're not talking fake smiles here - but genuine ones. Maybe that's part of the personality thing. Hmmm.

this was a trick question. Attractiveness is so much more than physical body type, and it seems so many of you hinted at that. And that's beautiful, so good job! Beauty blooms, too, just like wellness :)
